New pilings, old (barnacles) pilings, or just have a few wraps that are in need of a rewrap
Have some pilings that are in bad shape? We are able to reinforce these pilings using SnapJackets and Type M Mortar for less than half the price as a new piling.
For about half the price of having a contractor replace your piling, we are able to give these "bad" pilings strength again by utilizing SnapJacket technology. We'll start by pressure washing a bowl around each piling. This bowl allows for the jacket to get between 12-18" into the mudline and assure the jacket is doing it's job. When it comes to the height of the jacket, we put the jacket 4" below the framing under your dock. We use Type M Mortar that is mixed and pumped through our high end equipment to assure the highest quality work. Below is a quick YouTube link produced by the manufacturer of SnapJackets that does a fabulous job showing the SnapJacket process. We use the same equipment and process as shown in the video to complete your project.
Here at Beach to Bay we pride ourselves on high quality work. We understand that as a boat owner you want the confidence to know that your vessel will run at maximum performance every time on the water. Underwater video is taken after each cleaning, giving you the ability to run your vessel with complete confidence while also being able to keep an eye on your zincs without having to get into the water. We also send a report with each invoice. These reports allow you to know the percentage of life left on your zincs and the condition of the paint. ASK ABOUT OUR REFERRAL PROGRAM. We offer a referral program that gives you a FREE cleaning with each referral you send our way. Our reputation allows for us to grow and by helping us grow we want you to know how much we appreciate it.
Piling wraps put an end to marine borer activity. These tiny organisms feast on wood piling.
Our dive team installs a polyethylene wrap reaching below the sand line and to the framing of the dock. This method protects the pilings from sunlight and oxygen, killing wood borers.
This simple fix protects your major dock investment, adding years to the integrity of the wood piling.
Step 1: We will start by cleaning all the growth off the piling. This allows for the wrap to sit correctly on the piling.
Step 2: We will wrap the clean piling with two layers of shrink wrap. This is the most important step in the process. The shrink wrap will cut off water supply and sunlight to the piling. This will kill the marine borers that have already begun populating inside the piling. This will also prevent future borers that sneak through the nail line from getting to the piling.
Step 3: Installing the polyethylene wrap. This is the wrap that you are able to see when looking at the dock. This prevents any future marine borers from infiltrating the piling. We pay extra attention to detail so we ensure all the wraps are the same height and I also have what is called the "beer rule". If you are sitting outside with your friends and family having a beer, you will not be able to look at the dock and see a single nail. We make sure to hide all the nails so the only way to see them is if you are looking around under the dock.
